Julius Abure Re-Elected LP National Chairman

Labour Party (LP) on Wednesday 27th March 2024 Re-Elected Barrister Julius Abure from Edo State as the National Chairman of the party.

At the National convention of the party held in Nnewi Anambra State, Abure was declared re-elected as National Chairman despite disagreement with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC)

Recall that NLC carried out a protest in Abuja to take over the leadership of LP and demanded for the cancellation of the proposed convention held in Nnewi Anambra State Nigeria.

The National convention of the party was billed to hold earlier in Abia State but the venue was moved from Abia State to Nnewi, Anambra State.

In another news, Abure and National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is said to have reserved the presidential ticket of the party for the former Governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Obi ahead of 2027 presidential election.

Abure and his team also said that the Governorship ticket of Abia State will be reserved for His Excellency Alex Otti the incumbent Governor of Abia State due to his leadership capacity and proactivenes in office.

It is not clear yet if the national convention will hold water as Peter Obi, some senators, leaders of the labour union and among others were absent during the convention. Many expected that a convention like that will have the full presence of all the party leaders, holders of executive, legislative position and unified House of the Labour union.

In the March 27th National convention, Abure was returned as the National Chairman of the party.
