Lauretta Onochie Calls for the Arrest of Peter Obi

A notable member of All Progressive Congress (APC) Lauretta Onochie calls for the arrest of Labour Party Presidential candidate and the former Governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Gregory Obi.

Lauretta Onochie served under President Muhammadu Buhari’s government and also was confirmed a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2022. She is a party chieftain of APC in Delta State and at the national level. It was confirmed that she was a card-carrying member of APC when Buhari nominated and submitted her name as one of the INEC commissioner’s nominees. Her nomination was rejected because politicians were not qualified to become a member of the electoral body. She was categorized as partisan and her nomination never saw the light of the day.

On Tuesday 12th September 2023, she used her verified X account formerly Twitter where she has above two hundred thousand followers and called for the arrest of Mr Peter Obi. She tagged Department of State Service (DSS) and Nigeria Police force in her tweet where she called upon them to arrest Mr Peter Obi who she addressed as a clown. She went further to say that he should be invited for questioning.

After the 2023 presidential election, Mr Obi called his supporters to remain law abiding as he went to court to challenge the process that led to the declaration of the incumbent president of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Sen. Kashim Shetimma as duly elected president and vice president during the February 25th Presidential election held in the thirty six states of Nigeria and Federal Capital Territory (F.C.T) Abuja.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) delivered judgment on the 6th of September 2023 where the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate was upheld by the Appeal Court and dismissed the petition filed by LP, PDP and APM.

Mr Peter Obi reacted to the judgment during a public broadcast and said he would be appealing the judgment at the Supreme Court and still called his supporters, obidient family and fans to remain law-abiding.
