HRM Sanusi Lamido Returns as Emir of Kano

Following the repeal of the Kano State law that created five emirates in the State during the tenure of the former Governor of the State Umar Ganduje leading to dethronement of Sanusi Lamido as the Emir of Kano, the Kano State House of Assembly (KSHA) has abolished the law to return Kano into one emirate.

The bill that abolished the creation of five emirates was passed by the legislative arm of the Kano State government and assented into law by the incumbent Governor of Kano State on Thursday 23rd May 2024

His Royal Majesty Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who was a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Chancellor of the prestigious University of Benin, Benin City was attending an economic summit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as a guest speaker but the new development alleged that he made a quick return back to Kano State after delivering speech in Rivers State Economic Summit organized by the Rivers State Government led by His Excellency Governor Sim Fubara.

In a viral news, His Royal Majesty Sanusi is no longer referred to as the former Emir of Kano but now known and addressed as the Emir of Kano.

The bill passed by Kano State House of Assembly and assented into law by the Governor of the State His Excellency Abba Kabir has abolished the existing five created emirates and dethroned the rulers of the emirates into returning to the title they held before their elevation as rulers in their emirates.
