Enugu State Government Moves to Build Ultra Modern Bus Terminals in Gridlock Areas, Kick Off Structure Demolition

Enugu State Government led by His Excellency Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has initiated a project that will modernize the transport sector of Enugu State. In some areas of the state, there are instances of gridlock caused by unorganized bus terminals for passengers and transporters.

Currently, in Enugu State, the State government has kick-started the project with the first phase of demolition of structures that impends the development of the bus terminals in the named areas.

Market Road known popularly as Holy Ghost has recorded demolition of structures that were affected in the location the bus terminal will be built in Market Road which is in the heart of the city center. Buildings on the other side of the road opposite Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu have been demolished to prepare an enabling environment for the building of the bus terminals as promised by Governor Peter Mbah-led administration.

Enugu State Government informed owners of the properties in the affected areas by giving them time to prepare for vacation of the premises. The Government also gave them some level of compensation before the demolition finally happened.

In Liberty Area in Abakpa Nike, the bus terminal will be built there and those occupying the land belonging to Enugu State Transport Company and the affected structures in the areas have been told to evacuate the area which demolition is ongoing.

In the Gariki area, some structures will be demolished too to pave the way for the construction of a modern bus park there.

Coming to Nsukka Local Government Area in Enugu North Senatorial District, parts of Ogige market will be affected by the demolition for the construction of the modern park in the Nsukka metropolitan area.

Indeed, it won’t be easy for those affected directly in the demolition process for the construction of the park but the project will be worth it in the long run when completed.

Enugu people who have made their opinion known have lauded the Governor for such a project which will solve gridlock in the areas as they plead for the Governor to see to the end of the project so it won’t be an abandoned project.
