Appeal Court Affirms Tribunal Judgement Sacking Kano State Governor Kabir Yusuf

The Appeal Court has affirmed the judgement of the election petition tribunal that sacked the Governor of Kano State His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP and declared Gawuna of APC the duly elected Governor of Kano State.

In the judgement delivered by the appeal court, the incumbent Governor of Kano State was sacked due to his membership of NNPP before eligibility to contest for the Governorship election.

Recall that the Election Petition Tribunal in a judgement delivered that Gawuna of APC secured the majority votes after establishing his case on the issue of over voting.

The judgment of the Appeal Court did not go in favour of the incumbent Governor of Kano State and his party NNPP while it’s a celebration for Gawuna, his running mate in the joint ticket during the election, APC and Gawuna’s supporters.

The Governor of Kano State His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf only has the option of approaching the Supreme Court of Nigeria to appeal his case and the judgement of the Supreme Court will seal his fate as the Governor of Kano State.

Following the judgement delivered by the Federal Court of Appeal on Friday 17th November 2023, Kabir lost in the Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
