The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State His Excellency Doye Diri has recently secured the majority votes cast in the Bayelsa State Governorship election held on 11th November 2023.
His victory in the election has enabled him to secure his second term in office as the Governor of Bayelsa State.
In the keenly contested election which came with many delays in announcing the results of the election from the eight LGA in Bayelsa State, Doye emerged victorious and defeated his close political rivalry from the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Senator Doye Diri was first elected in 2020 after Supreme Court declared him the winner of November 2019 Governorship election in Bayelsa State.
In 2023, he contested again as the flag bearer of his political party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the election and won six out of the eight local government area in the state.
His Excellency Doye Diri a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and incumbent Governor of Bayelsa State got 175,196 while his closest opponent Sylva who was a former Governor of the State and Minister got 110,108.
