StoryMi Academy Presents 1.5 Million Naira Grant For Documentary Film Fellowship

In an Instagram social media post by Storymiacademy on Wednesday 17th April 2024, the organization in a partnership deal with French Embassy in Nigeria announced the second edition of the StoryMi Documentary Fellowship.

According to the organization, the program is designed to encourage quality documentary production in Nigeria and help young directors or journalists from Nigeria to earn a living by virtue of their profession.

The program is billed to promote cultural exchanges between French and Nigerian Filmmakers in line with the aims of the program.

Participants or candidates desiring to go through the application process of the 2024 Documentary Film Fellowship will pass through two processes which start with completing the online application form for submission and creating a mini-documentary for submission.

According to the requirements, the documentary should not be more than three to five minutes and will expose the storytelling ability of the applicant.

The short story can be a portrait of a family member, a neighbour, a vendor, or any short story of the applicant’s choice.

Further requirements for the program expose that applicants must be Nigerian Citizens and living in Nigeria.

Applicants should be between the ages of twenty years and not more than thirty-five years old to avoid facing disqualification due to neglect of the age criteria,

Applicants with the required age are also expected to have experience in filmmaking or related fields in the creative industry.

1.5 million Naira grant, professional mentorship, access to international film festivals, online classes, and workshops are all the benefits attached to the 2024 Documentary Film Fellowship powered by StoryMi Academy in partnership with the French Embassy in Nigeria.
