Senator Shehu Sani Woo Investors to Think Sports

Senator Shehu Sani extolled State Governments on their investments in football clubs but made public his confusion on why banks and big oil companies in Nigeria are not investing in football clubs like their counterpart in other countries.

He said ” Most of the top Football Clubs in this country are owned and funded by the States Governments. Why are all these Banks and Oil Companies in Nigeria making billions of Dollars running away from owning Football Clubs? “

His question is generating lots of comments and perhaps investors may think about it and start investing in Nigeria Sports, especially Football which will end up boosting football competition and tournaments in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, most of the football clubs are owned and managed by State Government. In countries like United Kingdom, most of the football clubs like Chelsea FC, Manchester United FC and others are owned by investors.

Shehu Sani has asked the critical question of why big companies making billions are not interested in investing directly in Football clubs.
