Peter Obi Plays New Role of Opposition Leader in Nigeria

The former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) during the 2023 Presidential Election in Nigeria His Excellency Mr Peter Obi is in the limelight as the face of the opposition leader in the political dispensation of Nigeria.

Recall that after the end of legal cases at the Supreme Court where he challenged the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, he disclosed that he won’t be going away despite the judgement of the Supreme Court not in his favour. He made it clear that he would be playing the role of opposition in Nigeria politics.

He has kept to his promise and always seen speaking his mind on some of the policies of the incumbent government including the happenings in Nigeria where government needs to take responsibility.

He is using his social media pages to discuss issues at a time when many influential people like him are afraid of saying certain things in public spaces for personal reasons known to them.

The former Vice President of Nigeria and two times Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) His Excellency Waziri Atiku Abubakar is also using his social media verified accounts to criticise the government where necessary such as the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Road project and others but his level of vocal may not be measurable to the opposition tactics deployed by Mr Peter Obi.

The two leaders are indeed holding the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu accountable and haven’t been silenced on the happenings in political and economic development of Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government and his party APC equally noted their welcoming of opposition politics but warned against abuse of the privilege and demanded for constructive criticism.
