The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to members engaging in anti-party activities, particularly those openly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for re-election in 2027.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC expressed deep concern over the persistent public outbursts and declarations by some prominent PDP members, pledging support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
According to the statement, such actions violate Section 10 (6) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), which explicitly states that no member shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the PDP or its elected government.
The NWC warned that these activities threaten the stability of the party, cause internal divisions, and risk eroding its electoral strength ahead of the next general elections. “If not immediately checked, such conduct will continue to impact negatively on the PDP, leading to further disaffection and loss of members,” the statement read.
Citing Section 59 (1) of the party’s constitution, the NWC issued a strong reprimand and cautioned those involved to “retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions” as prescribed by party rules.
The committee also urged members to remain loyal and focused as preparations continue for the PDP National Convention, scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
