Nigerian Born Lawyer Emem Madu Appointed Justice in Alberta, Canada

A Nigerian-born lawyer who relocated to Alberta, Canada many years ago has recorded a historic judicial appointment as a Justice in the Alberta Court of Justice.

Justice Emem Madu graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos where she gained a bachelor of law degree. She got admission to pursue her first degree in law in 1997 and successfully graduated in 2001/2002 enabling her to proceed to the Nigerian Law School where she graduated with a first class.

Her passion for excellence in education and legal matters amplified her bold move to pursue a master of law degree from the University of Alberta in 2005 and meritoriously graduated with a Master of Law (LL.M) Law in 2007.

Her education journey contributed to the relocation of her immediate family from Nigeria to Edmonton Alberta Canada.

She has a knack for dedication, tenacity and zeal to make a positive contribution which enabled her to emerge successful in every step of her career journey. She worked as a regulatory compliance specialist at ATB Financials from January 2010 – June 2011 and moving further to work at Wood Law Office from 2011-2012.

Justice Emem Madu career continued to move positively as she equally worked as a Barrister and Solicitor at Laurier Law Office from 2012-2013. She equally repeated the same job designation at Tisel Law Office, Edmonton Alberta, Canada where she demonstrated her capacity, talent & wealth of experience in efficient and effective job delivery that is worth applauds and admiration.

Justice Emem Madu is happily married to her Law School Classmate Barrister Kelechi Madu who is a Former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, Minister of Labour and Immigration, Former Deputy Premier, Minister of skilled Trades & profession Government of Alberta.

She is blessed with three lovely children namely Ugonna Madu, Chisom Madu and Adanaya Madu.

Her beloved husband Barr Kelechi Madu who is founder and Managing Lawyer Kaycee Madu KC Law Firm disclosed in his congratulatory message that Justice Emem Madu is arguably the most brilliant legal mind he knows.

Her newest job role which is historic entails that she will serve as a justice for the Edmonton Family and Youth Division in the Alberta Court of Justice.

Justice Emem Madu’s education journey won’t be complete without mentioning that she attended Queen’s College Yaba Lagos State in 1990-1995.
