In a bold move to drive economic growth and development in Enugu State, Governor Mbah has presented a record N971 billion budget for 2025 to the Enugu House of Assembly. The proposed budget is a significant increase from the previous year’s allocation.
Budget Breakdown
The budget is divided into two main categories: recurrent expenditure and capital expenditure. The recurrent expenditure has been reduced to 14% of the total budget, amounting to N133.1 billion. On the other hand, capital expenditure has increased to N837.9 billion, representing a significant investment in the state’s infrastructure and development projects.
Education Takes Center Stage
For the second consecutive year, education has been allocated over 33% of the budget, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to improving the state’s educational sector.
Internal Revenue Generation
The state’s internal revenue generation (IGR) has seen a significant boost, increasing from N37.4 billion to N144.7 billion in 2024. This improvement is expected to continue in 2025, with the state exploring new revenue streams and enhancing its tax collection mechanisms.
