Protest has been rocking Kano State following the installation of the former Emir of Kano HRH Sanusi Lamido and the dethronement of the Emir who took over from the former that is now recognized by the State Government as the Emir of Kano State.
Supporters of the two factions are laying claim to the right of office which is one of the causes of the protest.
In other news, a court order from the Federal High Court was brought to stop the installation of Emir Sanusi Lamido and recognition of the 15th Emir as the authentic Emir. Supporters of the new Emir and the State Government said the court lacked jurisdiction or could issue such a court order.
Personnel’s of the security bodies like the police, army/ Military were seen in Kano State palace guarding the deposed Emir of Kano who came to power during former Governor Ganduje’s tenure.
A new political party and a new Governor who is not loyal to Former Governor Ganduje who is currently the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) emerged after the 2023 Governorship election and victory at the Supreme Court as the duly elected Governor of Kano State. The law signed by Ganduje that led to the creation of more emirates has been abolished following the bill passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and signed into law by Governor Abba Yusuf.
Emir Sanusi has the backing of the ruling Governor who has presented him the certificate of office and currently occupying Emir’s stool where people have been coming to pay him visit while dethroned Emir Bayero and his supporters fights back for recognition as the true Emir.
