Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday 12th January 2024 affirms the victory of the incumbent Governor of Lagos State His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the March 2023 Governorship election in the state.
Recall that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Court in a separate judgement affirmed the victory of Sanwo-Olu who was the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the election.
The candidates of Labour Party(LP) and other opposition candidates in the election had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the judgment of the lower courts and declaration of INEC in the said election.
Friday 12th January 2024 marked the end of the legal battle in the March 2023 Lagos State Governorship election as Supreme Court judges in a delivered judgment dismissed the petitions of the oppositions in the election and affirmed the victory of APC and candidate in the election.
His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged victorious in the case filed at the Supreme Court enabling him to secure legal grounds to complete his second tenure as the duly elected Governor of Lagos State.
