Pro-Wike Lawmakers Withdraw Defection Affidavit in Federal High Court

In a surprise move, Rivers State lawmakers loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike have secretly withdrawn part of an affidavit confirming their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers, led by Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, had sworn to the affidavit in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1681/2023, citing “uncertainty and confusion” in the PDP.

However, sources reveal that they have now withdrawn the affidavit, which formed the basis for court orders allowing them to retain their seats.

Justice Donatus Okorowo had granted an interim injunction restraining INEC and the Rivers State House of Assembly from declaring the lawmakers’ seats vacant.
