Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has flagged off the dualization of the 43.7km Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Ugwogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, with a completion timeline of 18 months. This project aims to reduce travel time between Enugu and Nsukka to just 30 minutes, making it easier for residents to live in Nsukka and work in Enugu or vice versa.
The governor’s grassroots-based development and economic model prioritizes the Nsukka zone, with 102 wards benefiting from projects such as:
- 102 Smart Schools: Providing quality education to the residents of Nsukka
- 102 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centers: Ensuring accessible healthcare services
- Over 1,000 km of Roads: Connecting communities and facilitating economic growth, with at least 10 km of roads per ward
Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the people of Nsukka and leaders, including the Igwe of Edem Ani and Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, for their support and belief in the project.
This initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision for Enugu State, which includes accelerating sustainable economic transformation, promoting public-private partnerships, and ensuring security and peace. The governor’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective governance is expected to drive Enugu State’s growth and development.
With this project, Enugu State is on track to becoming a stronger, more connected state, offering limitless opportunities for its residents. As Governor Mbah said, “Tomorrow is here.”
