Governor Alex Otti Meets Austin Ufomba as Ultimum Limited Sets Up Multimillion-Dollar Beverage Factory in Abia

Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, has welcomed a new phase of industrial development in the state following the completion of the first phase of a multimillion-dollar beverage manufacturing facility by Ultimum Limited in Osisioma, Aba, Abia State.

In a statement issued through his verified X social media account, the Governor disclosed that he held a strategic meeting on 30th July 2025 with Mr. Austin Ufomba, Chief Executive Officer of Ultimum Limited, and members of his management team, who provided updates on the company’s investment plans and progress to date.

The project, which is positioned to serve both the domestic and African markets, is regarded as a significant addition to Abia’s growing industrial base. Governor Otti described the investment as a “major milestone” for the state’s economy and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for private capital.

“As a demonstration of this commitment, I have directed the Commissioner for Works to commence the rehabilitation of Adaelu Road, which leads to the factory site, to ensure efficient logistics and to enhance the competitiveness of the Osisioma industrial cluster,” he stated.

The Governor commended Ultimum Limited for initiating the project prior to seeking government assistance, noting that such a decision reflects a high level of confidence in Abia’s industrial prospects. “Their ambition to serve the African market from Osisioma underscores both the scale of the project and their long-term vision,” he added.

Security and infrastructure development, according to Otti, remain top priorities for his administration as it seeks to reposition Abia as a manufacturing and investment hub. “Abia remains one of the safest destinations for business in Nigeria. Our administration continues to strengthen security architecture and is focused on removing structural barriers to growth,” he said.

Analysts say the Ultimum beverage facility, when fully operational, is expected to create significant employment opportunities, stimulate local supply chains, and contribute to the region’s economic diversification. The Governor expressed his intention to commission the plant upon completion, emphasizing that “Abia is open, ready, and focused on becoming a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth.”

Ultimum Limited’s investment aligns with the broader trend of private sector-led industrialization in Nigeria, particularly in regions seeking to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to expand manufacturing capacity and export potential.
