The Chairman of UBA Group and Heirs Holding, Mr Tony Elumelu recently shared a photo celebrating Barrister Obong Idiong on his appointment or career elevation as the new Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Technologies Limited, subsidiary of Heirs Holdings.
Obong Idiong is from one of the States in South South Geopolitical region in Nigeria. He studied Law at University of Calabar, Cross River State where he obtained his LL.B. He equally attended Nigeria Law School where he obtained his BL and called to the largest Bar in Africa as Attorney and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He is notable for his passion in education and skill development which became evident on his continuous pursuit of knowledge. He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos State University. He also attended University of Liverpool where he bagged Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Finance and Business Law.
His career journey is one that revolved around continuous progress and focus in climbing the corporate ladder. In 2002, he joined Alpha Juris Chambers where he worked as Advocate and Solicitor for two years 2002-2004. He ventured into banking sector with a job role as legal officer/Credit Admin at Lagoon Home Savings & Loans Limited. He worked in the company from 2004 – 2005 and proceeded to Standard Trust Bank where he secured job role as Legal Officer.
He worked briefly in Standard Trust Bank from January 2005- July 2005 and found himself in UBA Group where he started as a Legal officer with focus on litigation. His experience and work commitment earned him the flower of working directly with the CEO of UBA Group as a Special Assistant to the CEO. He served in the new job role for four years and six months 2006- 2010.
In 2010, Obong was appointed as the Legal Adviser/Company Secretary of Heirs Holdings where he worked devotedly for eight years. His contributions in the success of the company which has subsidiaries majoring in Energy, insurance, hospitality, power, health and among others earned him his first appointment as Chief Executive Officer of a company.
The reward of good job is more job, his good work ethics and commitment in job delivery distinguished him leading to his career uplift as the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of Africa Prudential Plc. He worked in the company as MD/CEO for five years and few months until his appointment into another CEO role as the Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Technologies Limited.
In March 2024, Obong Idiong was appointed as the CEO of Heirs Technologies, subsidiary of Heirs Holdings.
