Coalition Adopts ADC to Unseat Tinubu

Ahead of 2027 Presidential election in Nigeria, coalition led by some opposition party big wigs and two former presidential candidates have adopted African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the party to be used as vehicle or platform to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his party All Progressive Congress ( APC).

The adoption of ADC by the coalition has generated many views from concerned Nigerians and loyalists of the ruling party in Nigeria who described the coalition movement to be a waste of time.
Former Vice President of Nigeria and PDP Presidential candidate in 2019 & 2023 presidential election His Excellency Atiku Abubakar is among the prominent leaders that adopted ADC as the platform for the coalition to adopt ahead of 2027 presidential election in Nigeria. As at the meeting held to unveil the party adopted by the coalition, no official statement confirmed he has resigned from his political party People’s Democratic Party ( PDP).

Another prominent leader confirmed in the coalition is the former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party ( LP) Presidential candidate in 2023 presidential election Mr Peter Obi. He enjoys the support of many that shares in his style of governance and desire to see a new Nigeria that is possible. Obidient movement kick started after he declare interest to run for the office of President of Nigeria and despite losing in the judgement from the Supreme Court that declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be duly elected and winner of the 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria, Mr Peter Obi has remained in opposition where he uses his social media platforms especially X ( formerly Twitter) to criticize the government of Nigeria led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also applauds the government on decisions he feels are the right thing to do.
In the coalition, some supporters of the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are also present such as Senator Dino Melaye and among others.

Former Governor of Kaduna State and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja Nasir El-Rufai led his group and supporters to the coalition movement that adopted ADC as their party ahead of 2027 general election in Nigeria.In a trending photo, he was sighted alongside Mr Peter Obi holding hands on their way to the venue where the coalition unveiled ADC.

Former Speaker, Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation Rt. Honourable Chibuike Amaechi was also seen as prominent members of the coalition that unveiled ADC as their official party platform ahead of the next general election in Nigeria.

In another news, the coalition made a move to register a new political party with the acronym ADA but recorded some obstacles that necessitated adoption of an existing party.

A shocking outcome in the coalition adoption of ADC exists in the manner the party former leadership resigned from top to bottom for a new leadership of the party in interim led by former Senate President of Nigeria Senator David Mark from Benue State and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola former Minister of Interior from Osun State who accepted to be the Secretary of the party.

After the announcement by the coalition leaders on adoption of ADC as their political party platform to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his party APC, many analyst are concerned on how the party will adopt a presidential candidate knowing there are so many big wigs in the coalition who desires to be the president of Nigeria. Top in the list are Mr Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar who contested for 2023 presidential election in two different platforms despite running on a joint ticket in the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.

Another prominent person in the coalition is former Attorney General and Federal Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami who is a strong loyal supporter of Former President Buhari. A trending letter posits that he has resigned his membership from the All Progressive Congress ( APC) which came into power since 2015 after defeating former President Goodluck Jonathan and his party PDP during the 2015 Presidential election in Nigeria.

Some supporters of the ruling party in Nigeria expect the coalition to collapse if they fail to give ADC ticket to prominent members that joined with expectation of securing the presidential ticket of the party.

Some supporters of Mr Peter Obi have threatened to discontinue their support and loyalty to him if he accepts Vice Presidential candidate position from the coalition. He also said he will be willing to accept a tenure agreement if that’s what it will take for him to see a Nigeria that is possible according to him. He may have said that since some political parties practices rotation of the presidential party ticket between the Northern and Southern Nigeria which includes all the six geo-political regions or zones in Nigeria.

Former Governor of Rivers State and Former Minister of Transportation Rt. Honourable Chibuike Amaechi is also alleged to have hinted on accepting one tenure agreement to become the presidential candidate of ADC in 2027 election in Nigeria which posits he is also interested in securing the ticket of the party just like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.

Aisha Yesufu and other popular women in the country were also seen in the coalition venue where ADC was adopted as party for the 2027 general election.

Serving Senators and House of Representatives members loyal to the prominent leaders of the coalition were also seen in the venue showing they may be contesting under ADC in 2027 general election if everything goes well in line with their interest.
