The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has officially debunked widespread online reports claiming that Muhammad Babangida rejected his recent appointment as Chairman of the Bank by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a press statement shared via its verified social media platforms, the BOA described the reports as “false and misleading,” emphasizing that Babangida has not only accepted the appointment but has also expressed deep gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence reposed in him.
“The attention of the Bank of Agriculture has been drawn to a series of false and misleading reports circulating online, falsely claiming that the newly appointed chairman, Muhammad Babangida, has declined his appointment. We wish to categorically state that these reports are entirely untrue and should be disregarded by the public,” the statement read in part.
The Bank went on to affirm that Muhammad Babangida graciously accepted the chairmanship role as announced by the Federal Government and is fully committed to supporting the BOA’s mission in transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The statement further added, “We strongly condemn the attempt to distort the truth and undermine the credibility of this administration’s commitment to national development. Those responsible for spreading this falsehood will be identified and held accountable in accordance with the law.”
Reiterating its dedication to transparency and national development, the BOA encouraged the public to rely on only verified sources of information and to remain alert against the growing spread of misinformation.
Muhammad Babangida’s appointment is seen as a strategic step in strengthening the institution’s leadership and reinforcing the government’s agricultural transformation agenda under the Renewed Hope initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
