Goodluck Jonathan Visits Bola Tinubu, Says Elections are Over

The former President of Nigeria His Excellency Goodluck Ebele Jonathan recently visited the incumbent President of Nigeria Bola Ahmad Tinubu to congratulate him on his supreme court victory where he was affirmed as the winner of the 25th February 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria.

Briefing the press after his meeting with the president of Nigeria, he said that elections are over. He equally called for unity to move Nigeria forward. He also said he has been busy travelling around trying to ensure a better continent and region as he announced going to Kenya and moving to Liberia to observe their election process.

Jonathan said further that people should expect him often in Aso Rock as it is a culture for former presidents to visit the incumbent President whenever they go on international trips that have the best interest of Nigeria at heart.

Jonathan became the president of Nigeria in 2009 after the death of his principal late President Musa Yaradua. They both ran on a joint ticket during the 2007 presidential election in Nigeria and Jonathan completed their four-year tenure. In 2011, Jonathan ran officially for the office of the president and he was democratically elected after winning the majority votes in the 2011 presidential election.

After his first tenure, he tried to run for his second tenure and was defeated by former President Muhammad Buhari of the All Progressive Congress ( APC). His ability to accept defeat in the election by calling his opponent to congratulate him even before INEC official announcement of the winner earned him the Ambassador of peace and a lover of democracy. He gained international recognition and fame after showing that his ambition wasn’t worth the blood of any Nigerian.

Jonathan set up a standard and demonstrated the spirit of sportsmanship in political participation.
