The parties involved have been duly informed. Following the statement from Labour Party (LP) Governorship Candidate during the election, he said ” We have just been informed that judgement on our election petition at the tribunal will be delivered on Monday, the 25th of September”.
The incumbent Governor of the State is already serving his second tenure will know his fate on Monday 25th September 2023.
Recall that since 1999, Governors elected in Lagos State have served their complete two terms of office except Akinwunmi Ambode who failed to secure the Governorship party ticket of All Progressive Congress ( APC) for a second term and it led to the coming of the incumbent Governor of Lagos State His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu who defeated him in the APC Primary election and went further to win in Gubernatorial Election conducted by INEC in 2019 leading him to be elected firstly in 2019 and sworn in again for his second term on 29th May 2023. Whether he will serve for a complete eight years like Bola Ahmed Tinubu (1999-2007) and Babatunde Fashola (2007- 2015) now depends on the judgment of the Tribunal, appeal court and Supreme Court as the final bus stop.
As tribunal gears to deliver judgment, he will know his fate in the case filed by Labour Party (LP) Governorship Candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and other candidates challenging his victory in the Governorship election conducted on 18th March 2023 across all the Local Government Areas in Lagos State.
