APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Resigns

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje tendered his resignation as the Chairman of his political party APC.

The news came on Friday, 27th June 2025, and none of his media spokespersons, party leaders or anyone close to him had debunked the news, making it a solid confirmation that he resigned from the said office.

According to the trending news, he resigned due to personal health-related matters, which may affect his ability to discharge his duties at the national level of the party as chairman.

Reacting to the news of his resignation, Labour Party Presidential Candidate in 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria and Former Governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Obi applauded Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for resigning from his position as national chairman of APC and said that such example should be emulated by others who may not be delivering optimally in their occupied positions due to health challenges.

Speaking further, Mr Peter applauded him for prioritizing his health above everything else.

APC has been the ruling party in Nigeria since 2015 and has won three presidential elections since the inception of the party. The resignation of the national Chairman of the Party may mean that the Deputy National Chairman from the North would probably step in as the acting national chairman of the party to fill the vacuum.
