A tragic incident occurred in Australia today when two light planes collided mid-air, resulting in the deaths of three people. The collision happened around 11:50 a.m. local time near Belimbla Park, close to Oakdale, southwest of Sydney.
According to reports, a Cessna 182 carrying two passengers crashed and burst into flames upon impact. Unfortunately, both passengers lost their lives. A kilometer away, a Jabiru aircraft with a single male occupant was also found, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services responded swiftly, but the nature of the injuries made it impossible to save anyone. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched an investigation and will deploy a team to examine the wreckage, collect data, and review air traffic control logs and weather information.
The incident occurred in an area popular among recreational and trainee pilots, with two local flying schools nearby. Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area and encouraging anyone with footage or witness accounts to come forward.
