Yola, Adamawa State – In a bid to alleviate the current fuel scarcity and skyrocketing prices, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has auctioned off seized petrol at the Nigeria/Cameroon border to the public at a subsidized rate of N360 per litre.
Fuel Price Hits N1300 in Adamawa
The development comes as fuel prices have surged to as high as N1300 per litre in Adamawa State, leaving residents struggling to access the essential commodity. The auction, conducted by the NCS Adamawa/Taraba Command, aims to cushion the effects of the scarcity and exploit the seized petrol.
Seized Petrol: 33,000 Litres
The NCS confiscated approximately 33,000 litres of petrol from smugglers attempting to cross the border into Cameroon. Instead of destroying the fuel, the customs service decided to auction it to the public.
