The former President of Nigeria His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo recently visited Abia State Governor His Excellency Alex Otti. During the visit Obasanjo as popularly known as Obj was received by officials of Abia State government.
In a viral video he was seen at the gym alongside Governor Alex Otti where the duo did some exercises.
In another news, Abia State House of Assembly led by the Speaker abolished the provisions of the law enacted to pay pensions to former Governors and their deputies in the state. The law posited that former governors and their deputies were entitled to receiving pensions for their service in the State. A new development came up in 2024 when the incumbent government made a move for change of such law that made provisions for past governors and deputies to receive pensions.
Abia State House of Assembly led by the Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa successfully passed the bill for the removal of pension law Number 4, 2001 which was sent to the Governor of the state to sign it into law.
The Governor signed the bill into law bringing the end of the provisions for former governors and deputies to receive pensions from Abia State government.
The former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo during his visits commended Governor Otti for signing such fantastic bill into law and called on other governors in Nigeria to follow the foot steps of Governor Otti in abolishing such law that made provisions for former governors and deputies to receive pensions.
