In viral news, it was reported that the President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed 40% deductions from internally generated revenues from federal universities in Nigeria. The news came with public outcry and university vice chancellors alongside members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) spoke against the directive of the federal government on the direct 40% deduction.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 70th Founders Day celebration in the University of Ibadan announced the suspension of the directives on the 40% deductions of IGR generated by universities. The announcement was made public by the Minister of Education who represented the president of Nigeria in the Founders Day celebration in Ibadan on Friday 17th November 2023.
